In a win for no one, Bottle Bill alternative redemption center plans unravel
Lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to pass a revised Oregon Bottle bill last year that was meant to, among other changes, create a new alternative redemption center model for large cities.
The project is now unraveling and nobody with a stake in the original plan – advocates for canners, neighbors of the proposed new site, grocers and those in charge of Oregon’s bottle and can recycling program – seems entirely happy with what they are getting instead…
